Learning Lessons The Hard Way!

I Have just returned from teaching my kids what I hope will be a good lesson learned. Ryan needed to go shopping for some furniture today for work. He asked the kids and I to go with him and help pick it out. Well while we were there the girls decided they were going to stop listening and run off. Well in the process of doing so they broke the glass in a piece of furniture. We talked to the company and they were going to let us know the price to replace the piece. We then returned home where the girls got their piggy banks. We returned to the store where the girls apologized and asked to pay for the glass. They returned home with empty banks. Now some may think I am being mean, but I realty want my kids to learn resposibiliy. I do actually have all the money from their banks in a safe place and I paid for the glass, they just don't know that. I hope that they learned something. They did tell me they felt like Heavenly Father was happy about the choice they made to pay for what they broke. Man teaching lessons like this is hard for me and them. ;)

I had to do the same thing with Mason one time. But I didn't store his money in a safe place. HE PAID IT. And he has learned... Thank heavens there are good parents out there that want to teach their kids what is right.
GO LEAH...

I am all about teaching/learning with natural consequences while they are still young and the consequences aren't as serious. I do agree that it is tough to stick out giving them the punishment but I think it is the best thing you can do for them! I don't think that was mean at all!
